ShopNBC is still doing pearl clearance. Tonight’s Our Top Value is a box set, seven pairs of colored pearl earrings in sterling silver for under $28 plus S & H. And they’re 8-9 mm pearls, too!  I’d say buy a couple of sets and put ’em away for gifts, they’re pretty and would make great stocking stuffers. (Yes, it’s July already, time to start thinking Christmas! LOL! 😉  The 18″ pearl  and sterling necklace for $50 plus tax, free S&H is very nice, and is on two Flex Pays. Personally, I don’t care for multi-colored pastel pearls, but you can’t go wrong with white. The pearls are knotted, but  it comes with a fishook clasp. I don’t like fishhook clasps,  I think they’re really annoying. But then again, my good pearl necklace has one, so maybe that’s what a good pearl necklace is supposed to do. By the way, I don’t think the set of three pearl stretch bracelets for $28  plus tax is such a great deal, I’ve seen  much better prices for this  type of stuff on Jewelry Television (JTV), but then again, I’m not sure how the quality stacks up. Thus far, the earrings look like the best deal of the day.

QVC has gold from Tuscany. The Today’s Special Value is an enameled gold pendant in red, white, black or turquoise, on a gold colored fabric cord for $99 plus S& H. Nope, too expensive. It’s quite pretty, but that cord’s gonna get dirty, and  I’m sure not spending that kinda money on a  little pendant. It would look really great on a neckwire or an omega, though. (If you must buy it, maybe there are still some $39 14K gold neckwires left on clearance on QVC. com. ) The matching ring is almost 300 bucks by the time you factor in the tax, never mind the free S&H and the five Easy Pays – that ring is way expensive and looks like costume jewery you can buy pre-boxed at Macy’s. And then there’s that Sheriff of Nottingham  bejeweled cross… No, no, no, No! ( LISA! There were no Christian churches in 998 BC! Hello! BC means BEFORE Christ! LOL!!! Ah yes, why I love live television! Methinks you meant AD. Please tell the production assistant to get  you some coffee.  LOL!!! ) Those new marquis earrings with the 60’s era floral design are definitely aimed at the Boomer market… but they’re over $100. I’ll pass. The charm dangle disc necklace that Lisa’s wearing I would definitely wear, but not for $122 plus tax and S&H, that’s  gonna be like $140 bucks. No Easy Pays,  oh well… 😦  But if there were four or five Easy Pays, I might start to twitch and reach for the phone.

But then again, I’m kinda enjoying watching the Christmas stuff on HSN. (QVC will celebrate Christmas in July on Saturday.) The Today’s Special is a set of two Sorelle globes that light up.  20 bucks plus S&H for silly  littlecolor-changing fiber optic snowmen or angels (Batteries are included.) Oh goody!  More chatchkes (nicknacks) to dust! Yep, they’re cute, alright.  Keep one, gift one, but please don’t buy one for me, okay? I do like the ornament stands, though. Those look nice and they’re like $13 bucks, that’s not too bad. A pre-lit 7 ‘ Christmas trees with remote control for $200, free S&H and 4 Flex pays… Hmm, by the time the holiday season rolls around it’d be paid for…  but you better have an attic or a garage to keep it in. And really, are you gonna unpack it and set it up to make sure it works before the 30 day return policy runs out? I doubt it! LOL!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!  Later, ‘gators! 🙂

Lock ‘n Lock on QVC, Prai Beauty snake oil clearance on ShopNBC, and Earth shoes on HSN. It’s the Trifecta of Boring… kinda.

ShopNBC’s Our Top Value is $70 bucks plus S& H for 8 ounces of stuff to slather on your neck. Five Value Pays makes it affordable, I guess. But is this stuff really gonna get rid of your double chin? The saleswoman from Prai is  actually describing it as support pantyhose  for your neck and decollatage. Is she SERIOUS?  Geez, y’can’t make this stuff up! (Why I love live television. LOL!!!)

QVC’s Today’s Special Value is a Lock ‘n Lock plastic salad bowl with dividers and a carry handle for $22 bucks plus S & H.  Jacque is such a cutey-pie and y’gotta love the Lock ‘n Lock lady, but really, do we really need to spend  $32 bucks (after S& H plus sales tax) for a plastic salad thingie? Comes in lots of pretty colors. To quote Hoggle in the movie, Labyrinth, “Ooooo, PLASTIC!!!”

(By the way, what’s  up with the dopey new graphics on QVC? YUCK!)

Oddly enough, I don’t hate the Earth footwear “Striker” shoes on HSN, except I think they’re kinda over-priced. They look like an enclosed sandal that was cross-bred with a suede sneaker.  They look very comfortable, the colors are really nice, and I think I might like to wear them,  but $80 bucks plus S& H plus tax and we’re talking over $90 by the time the dust clears. They’re on two flex pays. (If they were on  three, or four, I might  be tempted…) I  particularly like that the toes are covered. Having stubbed my toes and fractured them more than twice,  (OUWWWWCHY!!!) I’m extremely careful now, and only wear closed-toed footwear.

So I guess that makes HSN the lucky winner of  Tuesday’s  Trifecta of Boring. I’m goin’ to bed. Later, gater’s! 🙂

In case anyone cares, Jewelry Television (JTV) is running a weekend special on tanzanite through July 13th. The promo email reads: “Use code DISCTANZ15 at checkout.”

My experience with JTV is limited, but whenever I watch, the shrieking hosts with their overly-processed bottle-blonde hair, bad makeup, and trailer-trash Southern accents irritate me… and the cheesy bowling shirts with the JTV logos on ’em don’t help either. Maybe it’s just my NY chauvinism, but I wanna say, “Shut up bitches ’til you learn to  present yourselves like on-air professionals instead of used car salesmen!” They all desperately need to take Southern elegance lessons from Lisa Mason on QVC. That woman is a queen.

A few years back I ordered two pairs of London Blue topaz earrings for friends as gifts from JTV . The one of the itsy-bitsy topaz studs fell apart days after they were gifted, but I think the hoops are still doing okay.  It was past the 30 day return policy or I would have sent the studs back. (Sillly me for being too efficient and shopping so far in advance! LOL!) With all products ordered online, I strongly recommend that you READ THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS before you buy! And read the product descriptions! For example, a ring that measures 1/16th of an inch wide equals itsy-bitsy!!! If you like honkers, that would not be one, and don’t be mad if it arrives and is the size that they said it was!

I gotta leave for a gig, I’m playing a nursing facility in Queens that I would not recommend to anyone. Later, ‘gaters!
